Diana Taylor

Diana Wallis Taylor has been a member of the San Diego Christian Writer’s Guild since 1976, when Woody formed his first critique group.

She has a Batchelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from San Diego State University and taught elementary school from 1959 to 1982. She has owned two bookshop/coffeehouses, and worked in the real estate field. She retired from Point Loma Nazarene College as Director of Conference Services in 1990 when she and her husband Frank were married. She was serving on the Board of Directors for the SDCWG. At that time they moved to Northern California where Diana began writing full time.

She has been writing poetry since she was twelve and published a book of poems called, “Wings of the Wind” in 1994. Her poetry has been published in the Point Loma Nazarene College chapbook for 1988 and 1989 and the Trinity Chapbook (No. Calif.) in 1991. In Northern California she also participated in many poetry readings.

Taylor has been the recipient of several awards from the San Diego Christian Writer’s Guild. One for the Best Poem of 1988; A Certificate of Excellence in Poetry for 1990; Honorable Mentions for Excellence in Poetry and Songwriting for 2000; Honorable Mention for Excellence in Poetry in 2001, and the Best Book published in 2001. She has written several feature articles for Good News, Etc. and her article on Sparrows was in the June issue of Creation Illustrated Magazine.

While Taylor enjoys poetry, her main focus at present is Christian Fiction. One book has been published and she has recently completed the second manuscript of a trilogy. She is beginning the research on the third book, partially set in Asia.

Diana sings with the Good News Singers, a Gospel chorus made up of people from seven or eight churches. They travel to various churches to share the Gospel in song about once a month. She has also soloed in churches and led the worship team at her previous church. She has begun speaking at churches, sharing her testimony along with the story of the woman at the well, the subject of her book.

A native of California, Diana and her husband Frank have six grown children between them and eight grandchildren. Following their brief hiatus of seven years in Northern California, they live in the Point Loma area of San Diego with their two dogs, Annabelle and Pepper.
