Diana Wallis Taylor has been a member of the San Diego Christian Writer’s Guild since 1976, when Dr. Sherwood "Woody" Wirt formed his first critique group.
She has a BA in Elementary Education from San Diego State University and taught kindergarten thru junior high from 1959 to 1982. when she opened a bookshop/coffeehouse (the Habitat) in La Mesa, and worked in real estate. She retired in 1990 from Point Loma Nazarene University where she served as Director of Conference Services, when she and her husband Frank were married. They moved to Northern California where she began writing full time and opened a second bookshop/coffeehouse (The Serendipity).
She has been writing poetry since she was twelve and published a collection of her poems "Wings of the Wind" in 1994. Her poetry has been published in the Point Loma Nazarene Chapbook for 1988 and 1989 and the Trinity County Chapbook (No. Calif). in 1991. She also held poetry readings in her bookshop.
Diana has been the recipient of awards including: First place in the San Diego Book Awards Short Story Division for "Phipps and he Jay"; the Silver Medallion in Christian Fiction from the Reader's Favorite Award Contest for her manuscript, "A Distant Mountain" and has also received awards in poetry and songwriting over the years from the San Diego Chritian Writer's Guild. She's written feature articles for Good News, Etc. and Creation Magazine.
While she enjoys poetry, her main focus right now is Biblical fiction. Journey to the Well, The Woman of Samaria, debued in March, 2009 (Revell) and her second book, Martha will debut in May of 2011 (Revell).
Diana sings on the worship team at her church and for three and a half years traveled as an inspirational speaker for Stonecroft Ministries and other women's groups, sharing her testimony.
A native of California, Diana and her husband Frank have six grown children between them and ten grandchildren. They live in the Point Loma area of San Diego with their dog, Chessie.
