Vicki Hesterman
Vicki Hesterman is a writer, editor, teacher, and photographer. As a newspaper reporter, freelance writer, and photojournalist she interviewed or photographed personalities as diverse as Billy Graham, John Ashcroft, and Paul McCartney. As a freelance and staff book editor, she edited 30 books for both Christian and secular publishers. She has written hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles, authored two books and written chapters in others. Her photojournalism has been published and exhibited in galleries.
Her university students have been widely published and won national awards for their writing and student magazines. In all, her students have started six university, city and special interest magazines.
Dr. Hesterman belongs or has belonged to Society of Professional Journalists, Media Fellowship International, Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the Evangelical Press Association, National Press Photographers Association, and other professional organizations. She is active in community volunteer work, church and Bible studies and has done short-term mission work and photo documentaries in Mexico and Europe. Her academic research and reviews have been published in academic journals, and she has presented seven juried academic papers on various media ethics research topics at national AEJMC and other professional conferences.
Her undergraduate work was in literature, education and biology. Her Ph.D. is in communication with an emphasis on magazine and visual journalism.
