Fall Conference
The Guild's major event is its fall writer's conference. Structured as a one-day event to be more affordable and accessible than many like it, the conference offers something for everyone, from beginners to veterans. Speakers and workshops provide opportunities to learn what is selling and to whom to send it. The conference also provides an opportunity for attendees to meet one-on-one with the industry's top editors and agents.
"Many of the major Christian publishing houses consider the SDCWG to be one of the most prolific groups in the country and look forward to participating each year," Guild president Jennie Gillespie said.
According to Gillespie and Guild founder Sherwood "Woody" Wirt, the secret to getting published is "who you know" and the conference helps writers get to know the right people. "I stumbled for 25 years trying to get published," Wirt admitted. "Then I met Billy Graham..."
